Stow Board of Selectmen
February 23, 2015
Pre-Special Town Meeting
Present at the meeting that was held at Stow Town Hall were Brian Burke, Donald Hawkes, Charles Kern, Thomas Ryan and James Salvie. Don Hawkes and Tom Ryan arrived at 6:35 p.m.
Also present were William Wrigley, Town Administrator and Maureen Trunfio, Administrative Assistant and Barbara Huggins, Town Counsel.
Mr. Kern called the meeting to order at 6:30 p.m.
Randall Library Trustee Vacancy on Ballot
At the meeting on February 23, 2015, the Board of Selectmen voted to add a Randall Library Trustee term to the May 12, 2015 Election Ballot, due to the resignation of one of its Trustees.
Mr. Burke moved that, at the Annual Town Election be held on Tuesday, May 12, 2015 at Center School, 403 Great Road, from 7 a.m. – 8 p.m., the following office be included with the other offices to be voted on the ballot:
Trustee, Randall Library, for an unexpired term expiring May 2016
Mr. Salvie seconded the motion and it was passed unanimously.
VOTED: (3-0) In favor (Mr. Burke, Mr. Kern and Mr. Salvie.)
Emergency Management Officer Responsibility in case of Cancellation of Town Meeting
Fire Chief had been appointed at the Town’s Emergency Management Officer at an earlier date, but a vote was required to authorize him to call the Attorney General’s Office in case of weather cancellation of a Town Meeting.
Mr. Burke moved that Stow’s appointed Emergency Management Officer, the Fire Chief, be designated as responsible for contacting the office of the Massachusetts Attorney General in the event of cancellation of an Annual Town Meeting or Special Town Meeting due to public safety issues. Mr. Salvie seconded the motion and it was passed unanimously.
VOTED: (3-0) In favor (Mr. Burke, Mr. Kern and Mr. Salvie.)
Mr. Hawkes and Mr. Ryan arrived shortly after votes were taken.
Mr. Salvie made a motion to adjourn the meeting at 6:40 p.m. Mr. Hawkes seconded the motion and it was passed unanimously.
