BOARD OF SELECTMEN
Open Session
June 24, 2008
Present at the meeting that was held at the Town Building were Chairman Thomas Ruggiero and Selectmen Stephen Dungan, Kathleen Farrell, and Ellen Sturgis.
Selectman Jason Robart was absent.
Also present was Town Administrator William Wrigley. Administrative Assistant Susan McLaughlin was absent.
Chairman Ruggiero called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m.
Public Input
Ed Brown, Stow Representative to HLP requested an opportunity to update the Board. The Chairman of the Board asked him to wait until after the public hearing.
Public Hearing, 7:10pm, Verizon Cable Provider License Qualifications
Chairman read description and conditions of the hearings.
7:25pm hearing closed.
Board voted to accept qualifications of Verizon. S. Dungan moved, E. Sturgis second, unanimous support.
Board voted to approve contract with Verizon. E. Sturgis moved, S. Dungan second, unanimous support.
Snow Recreation Project
Bob Wilber updated the Board on the Snow property project. An engineering contract has been signed and the state Self Help Grant application has been submitted.
EPA Permit Modification and Assabet River
Alan Fierce addressed the Board regarding an EPA permit modification at Marlboro WWTF. He encouraged the Board to submit comments to the EPA before the deadline and to seek advice from Town Counsel and Stow Conservation Commission in so doing.
Hudson Light and Power Update
Ed Brown, Stow Representative to HL&P, and Roland Miller from HL&P Executive Board gave a general update on the status of the company and informed the Board that rate payers will receive notice of a predictable increase.
Registrar of Voters Appointment
Board voted unanimously to appoint Pam Weathers Stow Registrar. Mr. Dungan abstained.
Mass School Building Authority Documents
Board discussed MSBA Initial Compliance Certification and Memorandum of Agreement.
Move to Executive Session
9:15pm Roll call to move to executive session not to return to open session for employee contract negotiations.
