LACAC Meeting Minutes for December 11, 2013

Chair Glorioso called the meeting to order at 6 pm
Approve meeting minutes
Pappas moved, and Bernklow seconded, to approve the meeting minutes for October 2, 2013. Approved unanimously
Town Meeting Audio
Glorioso reported that he had surveyed several professional sound managers. Most of them told him they would not want to commit to managing Town Meeting sound without knowing how many days the meeting would go. Pappas also reported that some additional equipment might be needed to facilitate the sound management. Glorioso and Pappas recommended that Stow TV budget some funds for Town Meeting audio. Golder moved to add two line items to the FY15 budget: Up to $1000 for equipment and up to $2400 for payment for audio management for Town Meetings. Bernklow seconded. Approved unanimously
Virtual Private Network (VPN)
Glorioso proposed that the Stow TV FY15 budget allocate $3000 to implement a VPN for the town buildings. VanTine reported that she thinks the project is well underway with Paul Yannani. Glorioso stated that funding might allow Paul to hire help if needed. Pappas offered to talk with Paul about the project. Golder expressed concern whether a VPN creates a security problem but was assured it does not. Glorioso moved and Golder seconded to allocate the $3000 for VPN implementation. Approved unanimously.
FY14 Spending
VanTine presented a list of proposed purchases to make in the remainder of FY14, including replacing the Tightrope video server, adding the Tightrope bulletin board system, and an additional XA20 camcorder. The sense of the meeting was that this would be desirable, with Golder expressing some concerns to ensure that all the items are needed.
