Stow Medical Reserve Corps  - Meeting Minutes 10/02/06

Meeting Town Hall, 7pm

Attendees: Mary E.  Cormier (BOH Member and Liaison to Stow MRC), Marilyn Driscoll Sarah Robart, John Sangermano, Vickery Trinkaus-Randall,

Meeting Minutes – (summary form).

Discussion of Prior Business and Updates
        -Accepted minutes of 07/25/06 and 08/29/06 and they will be posted on the web
        -minutes will be sent as PDFs
-Marilyn staffed an information table at the High School Open House and reported that she had a number of people pick up MRC applications.
Sarah and Dianne staffed an information table at the Hale Middle school Open House and also handed out a good number of applications.
-Blue sheets – Center School and Pompositticut School’s sheets have come out containing MRC information. The High School E-Newsletter is scheduled to be released next week.
It was mentioned that MRC information and date of Kick-off meeting was placed in the Stow Paper, the Beacon Villager and the Action Unlimited

        Liisa Jackson will be listed as a contact for Trainings.
        We will aim to monthly have a “new item” on the web site
-It was reported that we had missed the deadline for the Counsel on Aging newsletter ,but will try to contact the Stow COA prior to next meeting.
-Discussion as to whether the Stow Community Chest was a potential source of funds, we can not “beg” from businesses
-Clipboards, paper bags and a number of other small items have been added to the boxes and all 12 are in the Police Station

Planning of October 12 Presentation to Town
        Discussion of items that needed to be present that included sign in desk, name tags, CORI sheets, applications, informational sheets in general and those for 72 hr kit, and dates of Courses
        Chief Soar will attend the meeting and speak
        Discussion of format of meeting and it was decided that Sarah would welcome those in attendance, introduce the board, Marcia Rising and or Jack Wallace and Chief Soar. John Sangermano would then present the Goals, Missions and Training needed by individuals and then take questions. Sarah has asked Chief Soar to present how we (the MRC) would assist and respond to him. The next issue would be a demonstration of “what goes into a 72 hr kit” This will be done by Sarah.. John Sangermano mentioned that his daughter, Lisa, is working on a badge for Girl scouts for preparedness for Pets and we thought this was a great opportunity for her if she was up to it.
        Discussion of what age a person must be to join MRC as we felt that High Schoolers might want to participate. Sarah will check with Liisa Jackson regarding age requirements.
