also have an article but at a lower purchase price. Assuming the Selectmen agree to support the two uses recommended
by the CPC/Rec article (agriculture and recreation), we respectfully request that the CPC consider allocating acquisition
funds to the Selectmen’s article. Since the absolute amount of CPC funding for land purchase is tied to the purchase
amount, perhaps any funds allocated to the Selectmen’s article should be on a pro-rated basis relative to the lower
purchase price. (Entries in the table below reflect this approach.) We are hopeful that the CPC will also agree to some
level of funding support for the Selectmen’s Snow article.
I have increased the amount in the Selectmen’s article by $120,000 to reflect $100,000 in legal and engineering costs
and $20,000 for bonding. These are the same amounts we added to the purchase price in the May ATM article.

How does this project help preserve Stow's character?
The Snow property is ideally suited for a variety of municipal uses; e.g., housing, recreation, agriculture, etc. The
proposed uses of agriculture and recreation have been identified as priorities by both the CPC and the Master Plan. The
proximity of the Snow parcel to existing agricultural land will support farmers in that area. Additional recreation space
will address the current shortage of fields. It will also support Stow’s commitment to outdoor activities for a variety of
age groups.
