REVISED
The Stonington Board of Selectmen held a meeting on this day at 7 p.m. at the Stonington Police Station. Present were First Selectman William S. Brown, Selectman Peter L. Balestracci and Selectman Stephen Bessette. Also present were members of the public and the press.
(1) Call to Order
Mr. Brown called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m. and the Pledge of
Allegiance was recited.
(2) Approval of Minutes
a. February 14, 2007 Regular Meeting
A motion was made by Mr. Balestracci, seconded by Mr. Bessette and
voted unanimously to accept the minutes as distributed.
b. February 26, 2007 Special Meeting
A motion was made by Mr. Balestracci, seconded by Mr. Bessette and
voted unanimously to accept the minutes as distributed.
(3) Comments from the Public
Capt. Gerry Desmond spoke on an initiative he is working on regarding
spousal benefits of slain officers.
Don Sadowski read from and handed out a statement regarding planning
& zoning issues and property on-line access.
Louise Brown read from and handed out facts and figures regarding voting
times and attendance records.
Joan Balestracci and Tom Haggerty commented on referendum voting
hours.
Gail Shea spoke on BOS minutes’ corrections, planning & zoning
issues, the petition she filed with the Town Clerk entitled “Quorum
rification Ordinance” and referendum voting hours.
Ed Hart spoke on planning & zoning issues and the referendum voting
hours.
David Christina commented on referendum voting hours and property on-
line access.
Dora Hill spoke on property on-line access.
(4) Discussion of Acceptance of Open Space Parcels
Mr. Brown initiated discussion regarding the letter from D’Amato Bros.
Builders, Inc. requesting that the Town accept the open space lots they
are willing to give to the Town. Mr. Bessette asked for clarification as
to the location of these properties and it was decided this agenda item
would be tabled.
(5) Discussion of 2007 Referendum Hours
Mr. Brown read a letter from the Registrars of Voters (Louise Brown/
Terry Grimes) requesting that the Board of Selectmen consider opening
the referendum polls later than 6 a.m. A motion was made by Mr.
Balestracci, seconded by Mr. Brown and voted unanimously to open the
voting polls for the May 1, 2007 referendum from 12 noon until 8 p.m.
(6) Appointments/Reappointments
a. Board of Assessment Appeals
Mr. Brown stated that David Harma has expressed interest in serving
as an alternate on the Board of Assessment Appeals. A motion was
made by Mr. Balestracci, seconded by Mr. Bessette and voted
unanimously to appoint David Harma as an alternate to the
Board of Assessment Appeals.

There being no further business to come before the Board, the meeting
was adjourned at 8:15 p.m.
