Chairman Joseph Carino called the meeting to order at 6:30 p.m.
1. Proposed Dry Pit Sewer Pump Stations Upgrades - Resolution Appropriating $1,950,000 For The Design And Construction Of Upgrades To Dry Pit Sewer Pump Stations In The Town Of South Windsor And Authorizing The Issuance Of $1,950,000 Bonds Of The Town To Meet Said Appropriation And Pending The Issuance Thereof The Making Of Temporary Borrowings For Such Purpose
Chairman Carino explained that the purpose of this public hearing was to present to the public information pertaining to the appropriation for the upgrading of the three sewer pump stations and to provide information of a public referendum to seek authorization to fund the upgrading of the three dry pit sewer pump stations.
The Legal Notice (Exhibit A) was read into the record by Ether A. Diaz, Recording Secretary.
Chairman Carino commented that about two years ago, the referendum for the four dry pit sewer pump stations was rejected. He believes that there was a lack of public input and a lack of information regarding the importance and seriousness of upgrading the pump stations. He explained that many years ago there was a major catastrophe here in Town where a pump station failed and sewage was trucked out by paddy wagons. Therefore, he explained how important is to upgrade the sewer pumping stations so as to stay away from any major catastrophes.
Chairman Carino declared open the public hearing at 6:34 p.m. for those who wished to speak on the subject. There was no public participation; therefore, Chairman Carino declared the public hearing at 6:35 p.m. on said proposed project and improvements closed.
