CALL TO ORDER: 7:00 pm
APPROVAL OF MINUTES: Minutes from 11/19/2013
- A motion to approve the minutes of 11/19/2013 was made by Commissioner Jeski; seconded by Commissioner Decker; and unanimously approved.
BUSINESS:
- Councilor Wagner, representing the Energy Committee, stated that home energy audits help residents with energy savings, c-pace rebates and energy savings for businesses. Councilor Wagner provided information about Solarize CT and CT Green Bank programs. Councilor Wagner stated that the Energy Committee is looking for 10 to 12 acres on which to build a solar farm in order to help reduce the Town’s energy costs.
- Chair Kennedy volunteered to be on the Energy and Solar Farm Committee.
- In response to Chair Kennedy’s question regarding availability of land on Barber Hill Road for a solar farm, Commissioner Warren stated that that property should remain as open space.
- Chair Kennedy, Commissioner McKinney and Commissioner Koboski proposed putting solar panels on town schools as a possible alternative.
- Chair Kennedy has contacted Katherine Winslow, CT Department of Agriculture, regarding development rights and is awaiting information.
