Meeting called to order at 7:30 p.m.
ITEM: Minutes
Approval of minutes of previous meeting of December 17, 2002 was approved by acclamation.
ITEM: Old Business
490 Letter
Jeff passed out list. Betty reported F. Katten had responded. SWALPAC had looked at his property in the past and does not feel it is a suitable parcel for purchase. Frank reported that due to budget constraints, there would be no new bonding for the purchase of Development Rights Program or open space purchases on the State level.
Leases on Town Owned Land
Jeff reported that the property on Nevers Road is available for lease. The commission composed a list of six farmers who will be sent the request for proposal.
Meetings
As previously discussed, SWALPAC will be meeting every other month. The next meeting will be April 15, 2003.
ITEM: New Business
Frank reported USDA is urging use of crop insurance. Rates are improved for coverage.
Discussion of Planning and Zoning regulations in relation to farming. Some towns are setting 5 acres minimum for farming. Jeff explained the local Planning and Zoning regulations in relation to farming and keeping of livestock.
