SOUTH WINDSOR PATRIOTIC COMMISSION
REGULAR MEETING – June 21, 2010
The meeting was called to order at 7:45 p.m. and opened by saying the Pledge of Allegiance.
ATTENDEES:
Due to Kent Carlson’s absence, Robert Moeller filled in as Chairperson for this evening’s meeting.
Herb Asplund, Robert Moeller, James Throwe, Roger Anderson and Doris Avery.
MINUTES:
The May 17, 2010 minutes were approved.
TREASURER’S REPORT:
Refund due from First Student in the amount of $585.69 as this bill was paid twice. Balance as of this date $2,249.97. Report filed with secretary.
CORRESPONDENCE: None
COMMITTEE REPORTS:
Veteran’s Day Parade: November 7, 2010
No report.
Veteran’s Day Ceremony: November 11, 2010
No report.
Essay Contest:
Roger will contact Mr. Archibald regarding the Essay Contest. Robert suggested that we think about topics for this upcoming year’s essay contest and bring our ideas to our September 20th meeting.
Evening In The Park: May 15, 2010
It was suggested that we take a close look at the poster that was placed on lawns throughout the town and focus on the highlights of this event. Comments made, that there was too much information and was not quite clear.

Memorial Day Parade: May 31, 2010
Robert reported that everything seemed to have gone well.
Flag Day Ceremony: June 12, 2010
Due to a conflict, with the South Windsor Fire Department, the retirement of the flags was held on June 19, 2010. It was reported that 523 flags were retired.
OLD BUSINESS:
The 2009 Essay Contest winners were all awarded their gift cards.
Publicity chair/web sit person – deferred until our next meeting in September.
NEW BUSINESS:
Robert suggested that we look into the possibility of holding and storing records at the Old Community Center in Town.
