SOUTH WINDSOR PATRIOTIC COMMISSION
REGULAR MEETING – February 17, 2009
The meeting was called to order at 7:30 p.m. and opened by saying the Pledge of Allegiance.
ATTENDEES:
Teri Dickey-Gaignat, Kent Carlson, Herb Asplund, Leonard Glasser, Robert Moeller and Doris Avery.
MINUTES:
The January 20, 2009 minutes were approved after the following corrections were made:
Under correspondence, change e-mail to conversation
and renew to review.
CORRESPONDENCE:
Kent received fireworks contract.
Kent received a reply from Kelly Savoie, Instrumental Music Teacher at Hartford Magnet Middle School inviting their marching band to participate in this year’s Memorial Day Parade. Kelly regrets that they will not be able to participate in the Parade, but asks that we keep their information on file as they would like to participate in future years.
TREASURER’S REPORT:
Balance of this date, $10,749.20. Brick fund $8,315.00. Copy filed with secretary.

Veteran’s Day Parade: November 8, 2009

Veteran’s Day Ceremony: November 11, 2009
No report.
Essay Contest: No report.
Regular Meeting

Evening In The Park: May 16, 2009
The invitations will be going out within the next couple of weeks to different organizations to participate in this event.
Memorial Day Parade: May 25, 2009
The invitations to the parade should be going out soon. Leonard Glasser will help Kent with the mailing.
The flags have been ordered and should be delivered in March.
As the South Windsor Band is no longer a marching band, Kent will invite the East Windsor High School Band and Herb will look into the Pipe Band of Manchester.
Flag Day Ceremony: June 14, 2009
Boys Scouts will be burning the flags. John not in attendance to report on this event.
OLD BUSINESS:
Lack of programs on Veteran’s Day in schools. Kent waiting to hear from Dr. Kozaczka.
NEW BUSINESS:
It was asked of Teri to take care of publicity, Teri will think about this!
Meeting was adjourned at 8:15.
