Patriotic Commission Minutes 12/15/2008
SOUTH WINDSOR PATRIOTIC COMMISSION
REGULAR MEETING - DECEMBER 15, 2008



The meeting was called to order at 7:30 p.m. and opened by saying the pledge of allegiance.

ATTENDEES:

Kent Carlson, Leonard Glasser, Robert Moeller, John Stonoha, Terri Kyc, Jim Throwe, Herb Asplund, Peter Anthony
and Doris Avery.

MINUTES:

The November 17, 2008 was approved.

CORRESPONDENCE:

Received Robert Moeller’s reappointment letter to the Patriotic Commission.

Received a Certificate of Appreciation for participating in the Hartford Veterans Day Parade.

TREASURER’S REPORT:  $13,500.00.   Report filed with secretary.  

COMMITTEE REPORTS:

Veteran’s Parade: - November 8, 2009.

Veteran’s Day Ceremony: - November 11, 2009

Essay Contest:  John reported that the student essay contest forms will be ready for distribution to the superintendent of schools and they then will distribute the forms out to the various schools.

Evening In The Park: - May 16, 2009

Invitations will be sent out in February.  As of this date, check has not been cut for the fireworks.  Kent will contact Matt Galligan.

Memorial Day: - May 25, 2009

OLD BUSINESS:

Robert Moeller handed out a challenge coin to John Stonoha, Leonard Glasser and Kent Carlson for their volunteering to participate on the Patriotic Commission.

John brought up Glenn Rose’s name being misspelled on the monument at the park.  A possible Eagle Scout project.  More information to follow.

NEW BUSINESS:  None.

Meeting adjourned at 8:20 p.m.

Our next regular meeting will be January 20, 2009.
