SOUTH WINDSOR PATRIOTIC COMMISSION
REGULAR MEETING – October 20, 2008
The meeting was called to order at 7:30 p.m. and opened by saying the Pledge of Allegiance.
ATTENDEES:
Teri Dickey-Gaignat, Robert Moeller, Peter Anthony, Herb Asplund, Kent Carlson, Leonard Glasser, John Stonoha, James Throwe and Doris Avery.
MINUTES: The September 15, 2008 minutes were approved after making the following corrections:
First page, under Correspondence add ..of the rotary pavilion for Armed Forces Day and Page 2, change already to ready. and under Old Business, the spelling of Glen Rose’s name (first line) should be Glenn. Robert passed out a corrected copy of the meeting calendar year 2008-2009. Copy was given to Town Hall.
CORRESPONDENCE: None.
TREASURER’S REPORT: $13,500.00. Report on file with secretary.
COMMITTEE REPORTS:
Essay Contest:
Robert received a call from Mr. Archibald with the following suggested topics:
K-5 Why would I like to be President
of the United States.
6-12 Who do you think was the best president
of the United States and why.
The start date for the contest is December 1 and ends January 31, 2009.
John will get information prepared along with Robert and Kent’s help.

Veterans Day: November 2, 2008

All who are interested, be at the South Windsor Senior Community Center by 11:00 to catch the bus going into Hartford.
Veterans Day November 11, 2008 (Tuesday)
Our Veterans Day ceremony speaker will be Col. Lewis Dimodugno. We will have someone play taps and there will be someone to sing. This event begins at 11:00 a.m. at Veterans Park
OLD BUSINESS:
We no longer have a high school marching band. We should get feelers out there to see if we can find a band for Memorial Day and any other events.
NEW BUSINESS:
Election of Officers:
Motion was made by Robert to nominate Kent Carlson as Chairperson, second by Herb Asplund
Motion was made by Herb to nominate John Stonoha as Vice-Chairperson, second by Jim Throwe.
Motion was made by Teri Dickey-Gaignat to nominate Doris Avery for Secretary, second by Leonard Glasser
Secretary cast 1 ballot for slate of office.
