SOUTH WINDSOR PATRIOTIC COMMISSION
REGULAR MEETING – February 22, 2011
The meeting was called to order at 7:30 p.m. and opened by saying the Pledge of Allegiance.
ATTENDEES:
Teri Dickey-Gaignat, Kent Carlson, Herb Asplund, Leonard Glasser, Teri Kyc, Peter Anthony, Roger Anderson, Jim Throwe, Doris Avery, Bob Moeller were ill. Billy Carroll had a scheduling conflict.
MINUTES:
The February 22, 2011 minutes were approved.
TREASURER’S REPORT:
Balance 8002.50.
Outstanding:
Fireworks ($3750.00).
Evening in the Park (around $2500 ($1000 for publicity))
Memorial Day (around $500)
Essay Contest Prizes (around $500)

COMMITTEE REPORTS:
Essay Contest:
Essay entries were judged and winners were decided. Roger will contact the winners and the schools. All entrants will get certificates. Kent will publicize. Roger will present winners at Town Council in June and arrange for them to ride in convertibles in the parade.
Evening In The Park: May 21, 2011
Invites to participants went out. Food contract is set. Fireworks contrcat is set. Kent has set up a meeting with town official for April. Kent has information from Billy Carrol about publicity for the event. Kent and Billy will discuss and present at the April meeting.
Memorial Day Parade: May 21, 2011
Len Glasser said he has requested another speaker for Memorial Day. It was discussed if we get a new member, perhaps we can split up the responsibilities for the parade, service, and placing of the flags.
Flag Day Ceremony: June 21, 2011
Kent reported that Randy Olson of Troop 186 has agreed to do ceremony.

OLD BUSINESS:
Kent said we need more new members.
Herb is still working on the town hall Veterans wall.
