Meeting of August 6, 2001

GUEST PRESENT:         Attorney David Platt from Murtha Cullina LLC, Hartford, CT
                                      
*       A slide presentation by David Platt, Esquire regarding open space conservation/preservation by private property owners was viewed by the Open Space Task Force.  This presentation included various methods for land conservation/preservation that could be financially beneficial to land owners.

*       Set time for property walk to review and rate property located on Abbey Road Extension known as the Ireland Property.

*       Discussed the proposal put forth in writing from Normen on the impending use of the  Priest Property as dictated by the South Windsor Park and Recreation Master Plan.

*       A motion was brought  forth by Warren on this subject matter and was presented as such:   “The Open Space Task Force supports the South Windsor Agriculture and Land Preservation Commission’s position and recommendation to the Town Council that the area of the Priest Property currently being farmed not be used for active recreation as shown on the Town’s Recreation Plan, but be preserved for farming as originally intended, and that the Barton Property, including the area to the North, which is part of the Rye Street Park property be used for active recreation facilities.”  Motion was carried. Banach abstained from voting on the motion.
