JUVENILE FIRESETTER INTERVENTION COMMISSION
TOWN OF SOUTH WINDSOR

REGULAR MEETING                              MINUTES                                          10:00 A.M.
SPRENKEL ROOM   May 27, 2009

Chairman Crombie called the meeting to order at 10:00 am.

ROLL CALL – MEMBERS

Roll call was taken.  Fire Chief Philip Crombie, Fire Marshal Walter Summers, and Youth and Family Services Coordinator Joann Moriarty were present.  
Deputy Fire Marshal Mauldin was present in the audience
  
PUBLIC PARTICIPATION - NONE

APPROVAL OF BY-LAWS

Draft of the revised proposed By-Laws were discussed.  Secretary Summers made a motion to approve the revised version as presented.  Second – Moriarty   Motion Passed 3-0.  See attachment  

TRAINING

The proposed training schedule was discussed.  A total of 10 people will need to attend the initial Juvenile Firesetter Intervention Specialist I certification class.   Chairman Crombie has proposed 4 dates in June.  Members were asked to check schedules so that the classes can be scheduled.

E.   APPROVAL OF BILLS & DISBURSEMENTS - NONE

F.   DISCUSSION ITEMS FROM MEMBERS

Discussion was held on the remaining funds in the FM Global grant.  The grant fund has a balance of $1,745.02.   Secretary Summers made a motion to purchase a laptop computer for the programs use.  The computer must have a DVD drive to show educational programs.  Seconded by Chairman Crombie.   Motion passed 3-0.
Discussion was held on National Fire Academy training options, school department notification of the program and when to officially start program.  No decisions were made.


  • MOTION TO GO INTO EXECUTIVE SESSION TO DISCUSS CASES
Motion by Secretary Summers to go into executive session to discuss one case.  Motion Seconded by Moriarty.  Went into executive session at 10:20.  Exited executive session at 10:28.

  • APPROVAL 0F MINUTES
Minutes of meeting on 3/25/09 were approved.
  

  • ADJOURNMENT
A motion to adjourn by Chairman Crombie.  Seconded by Secretary Summers.  Motion carried 3-0.  Meeting adjourned at 10:40 am.
