JUVENILE FIRESETTER INTERVENTION COMMISSION
TOWN OF SOUTH WINDSOR

REGULAR MEETING                              MINUTES                                      10:00 A.M.
SPRENKEL ROOM   March 25, 2009

Fire Marshal Summers called the meeting to order at 10:00 am.

ROLL CALL – MEMBERS

Roll call was taken.  Fire Chief Philip Crombie, Fire Marshal Walter Summers, Sergeant Elsie Diaz, and Youth and Family Services Coordinator Joanne Moriarty were present.  
   
ELECTION OF  OFFICERS

  • CHAIRMAN – Fire Chief Philip Crombie was unanimously elected Chairman
  • SECRETARY – Fire Marshal Walter Summers was unanimously elected Secretary
BY-LAWS

Draft of the proposed By-Laws was discussed.  A revised version will be presented at the next regular meeting for approval.  See Exhibit A

BUDGET / GRANTS

Discussion was held on the remaining funds in the FM Global grant.  The grant fund has a balance of $1,745.02.   A list of items to be purchased will be generated and presented at the next meeting.
The 2009/2010 proposed budget was presented.  The Commission has a proposed budget total of $1,500.00 that is before the Town Council for approval.  See Exhibit B
TRAINING

The proposed training schedule was discussed.  A total of 10 people will need to attend the initial Juvenile Firesetter Intervention Specialist I certification class.  The cost of the training will be covered by the FM Global grant.  A proposed class schedule of May 12, 13, 19 & 20 2009 from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm was agreed to.
 
SET-UP MEETING SCHEDULE

Chairman Crombie will set-up the time for the next meeting.

ADJOURNMENT

A motion to adjourn by Chairman Crombie.  Seconded by Secretary Summers.  Motion carried 4-0.  Meeting adjourned at 11:00 am.
