2. Summer Update...Charlie met with Mayor Anwar;
discussed plans for year
impact of HRC on community
plan to elect new Chair
Dr.Anwar praised the work of the HRC members
3. Charlie indicated he would like to have a new Chair elected; this will be pursued at the next meeting
4. "Getting to Know Your Neighbors:" Cultures & Customs
Charlie spoke with Bill Thomas
Baha'i presentation will be Oct. 16/Thursday
Nilofer will contact Jamaican representative/presentation on Jan 15, 2015
Nilofer will organize Pakistani presentation in April 2015
Nilofer volunteered to hold a meeting with Jamaican reps at her home
5. HRC Photo Contest Update
Mary showed flyers available in library
Town web site needs to post information
Application form needs revised dates
Karen Wagner will distribute publicity
previously entered photographers have been contacted
Mary reported that musicians have been engaged for Awards reception
6. HRC Winter Film Festival
Mary has selected some of the films
A flyer will be made
Discussion of ways to promote festival
7. Poetry Month Event
April is Poetry Month
Rick will contact American School for the Deaf about a performance
Charlie will obtain the name of a contact person at ASD
Nilofer suggested a short documentary film on a poet
8. Miscellaneous
Rick suggested that the HRC should consider having a separate facebook page
Discussion of 'mechanics,' hosting, posting, etc. ensued
Rick will contact town IT Dept. to obtain information/policies
Discussion of park bench arts project. Charlie proposed
investigating a program similar to Manchester's art benches
on Main St. Karen suggested that benches could be purchased
in honor of an individual. Charlie will obtain information about costs,
maintenance, artists, etc.
