REGULAR MEETING
December 6, 2011

Minutes                     Caucus Room

CALL MEETING TO ORDER:  Chairperson Macro called the meeting to order at 7:37 pm

ROLL CALL
Members present:        Chairperson Macro, Commissioner FitzPatrick, Commissioner Pitcock,
Members absent: Commissioner Jennings, Commissioner Klein
Alternates present:     Commissioner Foley, Commissioner Evans, Commissioner Taylor
Alternates absent:      None

Commissioner Evans was sitting for Commissioner Klein.  Commissioner Taylor was sitting for Commissioner Jennings.

PUBLIC PARTICIPATION:  none

APPROVAL OF MINUTES:
  • Motion by Commissioner Pitcock, seconded by Commissioner Evans was made to approve the minutes of the Public Hearing held on October 4, 2011. The motion carried unanimously.
  • Motion by Commissioner Pitcock, seconded by Commissioner Evans was made to approve the minutes of the Regular Meeting held on October 4, 2011. The motion carried unanimously.
NEW BUSINESS:
  • Note:  The November meeting was cancelled due to the snow storm and power outage that occurred the weekend of October 29th.
  • It was discussed that the “Increase Clapp” (now Schwier) property on the corner of RT 5 and Sullivan Avenue may be sold. The house is on the State Register of Historic Places and was noted on the WPA survey of historic houses and the HABS (Historic American Buildings Survey) in 1966.  No specific proposal has been submitted.
OLD BUSINESS:
  • Demolition Delay Ordinance – passed in January 2011.  The appeals process inserted in the Ordinance by the Town Council needs to be reviewed for potential legal issues.  The Historic Review Committee specified in the ordinance has not been established.
ADMINISTRATION:
  • We’ve received a State Grant of approximately $9,250 for Phase III of the Historic Resources Survey.  The consultant for Phase II has expressed interest in performing this next phase.  The consultant’s performance and the work were discussed.
  • Discussed potential sale and demolition of a property at 512 Buckland Road; which was not seen as a significant structure.
ADJOURNMENT:
Commissioner FitzPatrick moved to adjourn the meeting at 9:07 pm; seconded by Commissioner Taylor.  The motion carried unanimously.
