CAUCUS ROOM     TOWN HALL       November 6, 2007

Members present:        Chairperson Virginia Macro, Members Dr. Bruce Burnham, Edwina Futtner and Gary Pitcock

Members absent: Walter J. Fitzpatrick

Alternates absent:      Peter Jennings, Jean Klein and Paul Oates

CALL MEETING TO ORDER

Chairperson Macro called the meeting to order at 7:40 PM.

PUBLIC PARTICIPATION

None

APPROVAL OF MINUTES OF PREVIOUS MEETING

A motion to approve the minutes of the Regular meeting and Public Hearing held on October 2, 2007 was made by Gary Pitcock, seconded by Virginia Macro. The motion carried unanimously.

NEW BUSINESS

None

OLD BUSINESS

a)      The new Historic District Ordinance should come up before the Town Council in mid-November to set a date for a public hearing in December. There are two changes in the new ordinance: two or more members of the Commission shall reside in the District, and language specifying the Zoning Enforcement Agent as our staff person responsible for notifying violators of action to be taken. It also lists possible fines to be imposed.
b)      After some discussion, Gary Pitcock moved, seconded by Edwina Futtner, that we direct the Town Attorney to send a letter to Mr. Louis DiModugno requesting that he attend our next meeting on December 4th to discuss the fence installed 1675 Main Street in violation of the Historic District Commission's denial of a Certificate of Appropriateness. The motion carried unanimously.
c)      Chairperson Macro announced that their would be a meeting of the principals regarding the property on the corner of Route 5 and Sullivan that is within the Historic District. Gary Pitcock moved, seconded by Edwina Futtner, that the Historic District Commission endorses preserving the parcels in question as agricultural open space to maintain the rural character of the gateway to the Historic District. It further encourages the Town to fund the acquisition of development rights to the properties. The motion carried unanimously.

A motion to adjourn was made at 9:10 PM by Commissioner Pitcock, seconded by Commissioner Burnham and approved unanimously.
