Report from Joseph Carino, Liaison-Water Pollution Control Authority: Commissioner Carino was not in attendance to give a report.
Report from Louise Neary and Sue Burnham-Discover South Windsor: Chairperson Neary was not able to make the meeting but Commissioner Burnham was in attendance and able to make a report. Commissioner Burnham reported that she attended two meetings. She attended a committee meeting for the photo contest that will roll out February 15, 2010. There will be two categories-photographers over 18 and photographers under 18 with an adult’s approval.  A second meeting was held at Peter DeMallie’s office about the website. The number of hits has increased. The restaurant review section is much improved and much easier to submit reviews. There are incentives for businesses to sign up such as giving discounts until the site reaches a certain level of hits. Chairperson Neary stated that if anyone is able to attend the meeting it is held the third Thursday of the month.
  • Communications and Reports:
Report from Louise Neary, Chairperson: Chairperson Neary had no report. Chairperson Neary would like to add a future agenda item to include any business that should come before the Commission.  Chairperson Neary mentioned that a training session will be coming up and handed out copies and reminded commissioners that if they sign up and don’t attend there is a ten dollar fee.
Chairperson Neary commented that the new list of commissions and commissioners was emailed today. Chairperson Neary will mail a copy to Commissioner Morrison.
Report from Craig Stevenson, Economic Development Consultant: Chairperson Neary will forward Mr. Stevenson’s report when she gets it.
  • New Business: Commissioner Burnham handed out copies of an article in the Hartford Courant about a business meeting to be held in Tolland at 191 Merrow Road. Commissioner Murtha suggested speaking with Mr. Stevenson to see if he thinks it would be valuable for commission members to attend.
