General:
South Windsor implemented a Strategic Planning Process to better coordinate the efforts of Boards, Commissions and other governing groups. Since Education and Economic Development are two of the Town
EDC Highlights:
The EDC Chair and other members summarized 2002 priorities and recent activities, including;

Action Item: the possibility of offering EDC Guest Speakers to PTO meetings is being explored along with other communication channels; a subcommittee brainstorming session is recommended. W. Hunicke volunteered to facilitate.
Evergreen Walk
Board of Education Highlights:
BOE members and the Superintendent of Schools summarized recent activities and shared some of their current issues;

Action Item: the Superintendent of Schools has talked with the Town Manager regarding this effort and will continue to explore possibilities of working together. The EDC is also interested in participating.

Action Item: the EDC Chair will look into best possible approaches to use of TV as part of the EDC communications effort.
· Facilities/Refurbishment
The BOE is considering a referendum for 2004, and would like to coordinate their planning with that of the Town. It was discussed that the BOE and EDC would benefit from having the Town Manager share perspective regarding South Windsor

Opportunities To Work Together:
It was agreed that there are several valuable opportunities for the EDC and BOE to work together. Action Items and specifics highlighted above.
Next Meeting - the possibility of meeting every 6 months was discussed during the April session. The need for, and timing of a next meeting to be determined by M. Anthony and the BOE based on progress in the above areas.
