DEMOLITION DELAY COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES
May 1, 2014
1.~~~~ Call Meeting to Order:
The Demolition Delay Committee meeting was called to order by Chairperson Art Utay at 7:33 pm.
2.~~~~~Roll Call:
- Members present: Art Utay, Wayne McKinney, and Walter FitzPatrick.
- Members absent: Virginia Macro, Viney Wilson.
3.~~~~ Public Participation:
4.~~~~ Approval of Minutes:
- Motion by member Utay, seconded by member McKinney, was made to approve the minutes of the regular meeting held on April 10, 2014. The motion carried unanimously.
5.~~~~ Old Business:
- Chairperson Utay reported status of a Demolition Delay process review of other towns. East Windsor and Farmington have been contacted. Calls made to East Hartford and Glastonbury with anticipated returns. Manchester will also be contacted. Results, to date, vary greatly depending mainly on the date of the ordinance was adopted. Most of the ordinances are older than SW.
- A letter was sent to the owner, with a copy to the building Department, that tear-down and re-use of the materials for a garage at 852 Main Street does not require action by the DDC.
6.~~~~ New Business:
- Chairperson Utay intends to review the Demolition Delay Ordinance to determine what the committee can do proactively to head-off demolition by neglect.
7.~~~~ Administration
- The next regular Demolition Delay Committee meeting will be May 1, 2014, at 7:30 PM.
8.~~~~ Adjournment
- Member Fitzpatrick moved to adjourn at 8:12 pm. Second by member McKinney. The motion carried unanimously.
