PUBLIC HEARING MINUTES

September 4, 2012
7:15 p.m.

South Windsor Town Council

PURPOSE:        To receive citizen input on an amendment to Ordinance #190 – Demolition Delay Ordinance

Mayor Delnicki called the Public Hearing to order at 7:15 p.m.; and requested that the Clerk of the Council read the call of the meeting (a copy of which is attached hereto).  There were approximately seventeen (17) people present in the audience.

Mayor Delnicki asked if there was anyone from the public that would like to speak.

Ms. Ginny Macro, 1820 Main Street came forward and stated that she is in support of this amended Ordinance because it provides a tool to preserve the history and unique character of South Windsor by allowing time to find an alternative to demolition of structures that are significant to South Windsor.  Ms. Macro urged the Council to pass the Ordinance as it has been amended.

Ms. Louise Evans, 1678 Main Street stated she is also in favor of this Ordinance.  Ms. Evans explained that she is proud to be a resident of South Windsor and would like to see the preservation of the structures that were built a long time ago.

Mr. Gary Pitcock, 87 Long Hill Road came forward and voiced his support for this Ordinance.

Ms. Sandy Jeski, 75 Murielle Drive explained that she is a life long resident of South Windsor and would like to keep the history of the Town in tact.  Ms. Jeski stated she is in favor of the Ordinance and is hopeful that the Town Council will vote favorably for this Ordinance.

Mayor Delnicki asked for a Straw Vote, the results of which were as follows:

Those in support of amending Ordinance #190 – Demolition Delay Ordinance:  - 11

Those in opposition of amending Ordinance #190 – Demolition Delay Ordinance:  - 0

The public hearing was closed at 7:19 p.m.
