Town Council Public Hearing Minutes 5/7/2012
PUBLIC HEARING MINUTES

May 7, 2012
7:15 p.m.

South Windsor Town Council

PURPOSE:        To receive citizen input on the Appropriation of $100,000 of LoCIP Funding for Safety Answering Service Equipment at the Police Department

Mayor Delnicki called the Public Hearing to order at 7:15 p.m.; and requested that the Clerk of the Council read the call of the meeting (a copy of which is attached hereto).  There was approximately fourteen (14) people present in the audience.

Mr. Galligan came forward and explained that the public answering service has gone down approximately four times.  The Town is required to have two people on these consoles that have emergency medical dispatch abilities.  The $100,000 in here is not for the purchase of the equipment, it is for the construction of the inside of the facility.  The purchase of the equipment is going to be done by a lease through Marcus Communications.  The Town is proposing to have three consoles in case of any other storm related emergencies the Town may have.  In order to have these three consoles, the configuration of this space needs to be changed.  This $100,000 will be used to open up that area in order to fit the appropriate equipment necessary.

Mayor Delnicki asked if there was anyone from the public that would like to speak, there was none.

Mayor Delnicki asked for a Straw Vote, the results of which were as follows:

Those in support of appropriating $100,000 of LoCIP funding for construction at the Police Department:  - 5

Those in opposition of appropriating $100,000 of LoCIP funding for construction at the Police Department:  - 0

The public hearing was closed at 7:20 p.m.

Respectfully submitted,
