Town Council Public Hearing Minutes 10-20-09
PUBLIC HEARING MINUTES

October 20, 2009
7:15 p.m.

South Windsor Council Chambers

PURPOSE:        To receive citizen input on the conveyance of approximately
1.958 acres of property subject to existing utility easements to be obtained from the State of Connecticut, adjacent to Ellington Road to Connecticut Studios LLC or its designee

Mayor Prague called the Public Hearing to order at 7:15 p.m.; and requested that the Clerk of the Council read the call of the meeting (a copy of which is attached hereto).  There were approximately ten (10) people present in the audience.

Town Manager, Matthew B. Galligan reviewed the history of this parcel.

Mayor Prague asked if there was anyone from the public that would like to speak.

Answering questions from Mr. Michael Sullivan, Mr. Galligan explained that the Town had bought the property for $1.00 and would be selling the property for $1.00.  The Town can not sell the property for more than it was bought for.  The Town can not make a profit on this parcel.  The Town Council previously approved a sale agreement.  The Town has spent money in order to get this property ready for a buyer, so if Connecticut Studios does not go through, the Town will be ready to market this property.

As is the custom, the Mayor asked for a show of hands for a straw vote on the proposal.  The results were as follows:

Those in favor of the Town Council conveying approximately 1.958 acres of property subject to existing utility easements to be obtained from the State of Connecticut, adjacent o Ellington road to Connecticut Studios LLC or its designee:  - 4

Those in opposition of the Town Council conveying approximately 1.958 acres of property subject to existing utility easements to be obtained from the State of Connecticut, adjacent o Ellington road to Connecticut Studios LLC or its designee:  - 0

The public hearing was closed at 7:30 p.m.

Respectfully submitted,
