WORK SESSION MINUTES
TOWN COUNCIL MONDAY, JANUARY 20, 2009
COUNCIL CHAMBERS TIME: 7:00 P.M.
1. Call Meeting to Order
Mayor Prague called the meeting to order at 7:01 p.m.

Following Roll Call, Mayor Prague recognized individuals involved in collecting and donating money for The South Windsor Food & Fuel Bank by presenting them with certificates. They were as followings: Thomas Delnicki; Diane Mead, Leader for Girl Scout Troop #10952; Jeanette Beer, Leader for Girl Scout Troop #10952; Meagan Greer, Girl Scout Troop #10952; Lauren Beer, Girl Scout Troop #10952; Jackie Mead, Girl Scout Troop #10952; Kevin Mead, Boy Scout Troop #389; and Harry Mead.
3. Public Participation
Mr. Tom Lyons, 43 Wedgewood Lane stated he is part of the group that has been studying the alternatives to the different turf options that the Town has available for the fields at South Windsor High School. Mr. Lyons first gave a history of this ongoing issue and then asked the Town Council to please act on this item because it is important for something to be done which will create a safer situation for the children who use these fields.
Ms. Barbara Hoff, 200 LeFoll Boulevard came before the Town Council to discuss the conditions of the Elementary Schools in South Windsor and the need to either do renovations or replace these buildings.

7. Executive Session
At 7:22 p.m. Deputy Mayor Bazzano made a motion to go into Executive Session to discuss potential development of land in the Town of South Windsor (I-291 Corridor). Councillor Pelkey seconded the motion, and it was approved, unanimously.
The following individuals went into Executive Session: Town Manager Matthew Galligan, Mayor Prague, Deputy Mayor Bazzano, Councillor Hale, Councillor Havens, Councillor Maneeley, Councillor McCann, Councillor Oates, Councillor Pelkey, Councillor Yagaloff, and four Principals from the group that is looking to develop the land.
The Executive Session was recessed at 8:00 p.m. in order to call the Regular Meeting to order. The Executive Session then reconvened.
At 8:23 p.m. the Executive Session was recessed again in order to go to the Regular Meeting to complete Item 16. D. The Executive Session reconvened at 8:30 p.m.
At 10:00 p.m. Councillor Pelkey made a motion to adjourn the Executive Session. Councillor Hale seconded the motion; and it was approved, unanimously.
8. Adjournment
At 10:00 p.m. the Work Session was adjourned by unanimous consensus.
