TOWN COUNCIL WORK SESSION
COUNCIL CHAMBERS APRIL 7, 2008
SOUTH WINDSOR TOWN HALL TIME: 7:00 P.M.
1. Call Meeting to Order
Mayor Streeter called the meeting to order at 7:03 p.m.

3. Public Participation:
Mr. Robert Dickinson, addressStreet19 Birch Road came before the Town Council and stated that he would like the Town Council to consider ordinance changes in order to create safe walking situations in the Town of placeCitySouth Windsor.
Ms. Nancy Yario, 20 Andreis Trail came forward and stated that she felt Mr. Dickinson’s idea was wonderful and also felt that more sidewalks in South Windsor are needed. Ms. Yario then explained that while having a discussion with a placeSouth Windsor police officer, the police officer never shut her car engine off and Ms. Yario feels this is a waste and also pollutes the air.
Mr. George Hill, 20 Andreis Trail came forward to voice his concern regarding the budget that is being proposed. Presently people are having a hard time paying their mortgages and feel the budget should be reviewed further.
Mrs. Annamae Davis, addressStreet9 Ridge Road came before the Town Council to state that a cross-walk is necessary on addressStreetBuckland Road. There are individuals crossing that road to go over to Stop and Shop and there is going to be an accident if a cross-walk is not created.

5. Town Manager’s Report
Town Manager Galligan told the Council Members and the public that a cross-walk is in the process of being designed for that area on addressStreetBuckland Road.
6. Items for Discussion
A. FM Global to present the placeSouth Windsor Fire Department with a $2,000 fire prevention grant
Mr. Lawrence King from FM Global came before the Town Council and explained what FM Global does and presented a check for $2,000 to the South Windsor Fire Department.
Mr. Walter Summers, Fire Marshal explained to the Council that these funds are proposed to be used for the purchase towards fire prevention materials needed to initiate a Juvenile Fire Setup Prevention Program.
B. Discussion regarding expanding the eligibility for Tax Relief for Elderly or Disabled Homeowners
Mayor Streeter stated that discussions would be held at the April 21, 2008 Regular Meeting.
7. Executive Session
Councillor McCann made a motion to go into Executive Session at 7:14 p.m. to discuss the possible purchase of real estate for the Town. Councillor Pelkey seconded the motion and it was approved, unanimously.
Councillor Maneeley made a motion to adjourn the Executive Session at 7:29 p.m. Councillor Bazzano seconded the motion and it was approved, unanimously.
8. Adjournment
Councillor McCann made a motion to adjourn the Work Session at 7:29 p.m. Councillor Bazzano seconded the motion and it was approved, unanimously.
