PUBLIC HEARING MINUTES

APRIL 9, 2007
7:00 P.M.

TIMOTHY EDWARDS MIDDLE SCHOOL
ROOM ALT. 6

PURPOSE:        TO RECEIVE CITIZEN INPUT ON THE PROPOSED BOARD OF EDUCATION BUDGET FOR FISCAL YEAR 2006/2007.

The Public Hearing was called to order at 7:00 p.m. by Mayor Streeter.  The Clerk of the Council read the Call of the Meeting (a copy of which is attached).  The following Town Council members were present:

Mayor Matt Streeter
Deputy Mayor Thomas Delnicki
Councillor Edward Havens
Councillor Kevin McCann
Councillor Tim Moriarty
Councillor Cary Prague
                        Councillor John Pelkey

        Not Present:    Councillor Deborah Fine
                                Councillor Keith Yagaloff

        Also Present:   Town Manager Matthew Galligan

The following Board of Education members were present:

Janice Snyder, Chairperson
                        David Joy, Vice-Chairperson
                        Jack Chinsky
                        Kathleen Soucy Daugherty
                        Timothy Paul Kenefick
                        Lisa Maneeley, Secretary
                        Richard Stahr

        Not Present:    Carolyn Egan
                                Anthony Fornuto

        Also Present:   Superintendent Dr. Robert Kozaczka
                                Daniel Hansen, Assistant Superintendent
                                Ania Czajkowski, Assistant Superintendent
                                Donna McKenty, Board of Education Business Manager


There were approximately 4 people in the audience.

Ms. Janice Snyder, Chairperson of the Board of Education and Dr. Robert Kozaczka, Superintendent of Schools presented the Board of Education’s budget.

The following members of the audience then came forward to address the Town Council and the Board of Education:

Mr. Larry Torff, 521 Quarry Brook Drive
Mr. Joseph Costa, 25 Rosemary Lane

Following comments from the audience, Mayor Streeter asked for a Straw Vote, the results of which were as follows:

Those supporting the School Budget as submitted to the Town Council by the Board of Education:  2

Those that support spending additional funds on the School Budget:  0

Those that support spending less on the School Budget:  0

A motion to adjourn was made at 7:26 p.m.; was duly seconded; and approved, unanimously.
