Mayor Streeter called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m.

Budget Orientation
A. Human Services Department
Town Manager Galligan explained that this is just an opportunity for the Town Council to see how departments operate and to get familiar with the budget process.

4. A. Human Services (Continued)
Mr. Sheridan discussed how the Human Services Department is designated as the Shelter Coordinator, if a shelter should need to be opened for any reason. During the storm last week there were about 600 power outages with the majority of them at the Flax Hill Senior Apartments. He explained the steps that were taken to open a shelter during that storm.
He also reported on the status of the Fuel Bank. Through fund raising efforts and awareness in the community, they raised an additional $14,000/$15,000 on top of the $6,000. They still have about a $19,000 balance.
Ms. Deneen and Mr. Sheridan discussed the status of the family that they helped move to South Windsor from Florida after hurricane Rita.
Mr. Sheridan, Ms. Deneen, and Ms. Anderson gave a PowerPoint Presentation explaining the South Windsor Human Services Adult & Senior Services and Youth & Family Services. A copy of the presentation is attached as Exhibit A.
Various questions were answered for the Council.
B. Recreation Department
Mr. Favreau and Mr. Kane gave a PowerPoint Presentation, which explained a brief overview on how the Recreation Department operates, some of the highlights of their most recent noteworthy accomplishments, and set the stage for their upcoming 2006/2007 budget. A copy of the presentation is attached as Exhibit B.
Various questions were answered for the Council.
Mr. Favreau introduced Craig Zimmerman, Andrew Paterna, and George Caye who are all Park and Recreation Commission members that attended the meeting.
Mayor Streeter thanked everyone for coming and for providing top notch services to the Town.
