PUBLIC HEARING MINUTES

PURPOSE: TO RECEIVE CITIZEN INPUT ON THE PROPOSED BOARD OF EDUCATION BUDGET FOR FISCAL YEAR 2005/2006.
The Public Hearing was called to order at 7:00 p.m. by Deputy Mayor Pelkey. The Clerk of the Council read the Call of the Meeting (a copy of which is attached). The following Town Council members were present:

The following Board of Education members were present:

There were approximately 55 people in the audience.
Mr. Robert O’Connor, Chairperson of the Board of Education presented the Board of Education’s budget, which was being submitted this evening. Please see attached Exhibit A.
Annamae and Bill Davis were unable to attend the meeting, but they submitted a letter to the Members of the Town Council and Members of the Board of Education and asked that it be read into Minutes for Public Hearing. Please see attached Exhibit B.
The following members of the audience then came forward to address the Town Council and the Board of Education:

Following comments from the audience, Deputy Mayor Pelkey asked for a Straw Vote, the results of which were as follows:
Those supporting the School Budget as submitted to the Town Council by the Board of Education: 37
Those that support spending more on the School Budget: 4
Those that support spending less on the School Budget: 5
A motion to adjourn was made at 9:05 p.m.; was duly seconded; and approved, unanimously.
