Meeting called to order: 7:35 PM
Commissioners in Attendance: Andy Paterna, Rich Mabey, Andrea Momnie, Dan Rezende, Al Larson, Ray Favreau
Minutes from the December 13, 2006 were approved unanimously.
Lawrence Road Park: Tom Hammerberg of Vollmer Associates presented the revised plan, as per the Commission's request in December. The plan included all possible amenities and a single construction phase. A resident in the audience asked questions about the parking lot and additional screening. A berm along the west side of the property (nearest the residential properties) was discussed to screen the park from the neighborhood. A natural buffer versus a fence was also discussed. There was an extensive discussion regarding clearing and grubbing of the site, and more specifically the invasives. Commissioners suggested a call box and/or emergency phone at the far-side of the park (near the fishing pond).
Several cuts were made to the project. Several non-essential items were moved to a second, and possibly third, phase of construction. The commission also asked Ray to investigate the potential for the Public Works Department to complete some of the tasks at a significant savings to the project.
There was discussion to be put on the February 19th Town Council agenda to review the revised plan and opinion of cost.
Report from the Recreation Director: Report was handed to commissioners at conclusion of meeting and there was no discussion.
