Minutes of the Meeting
June 13, 2007
Members attended a Leadership Round Table meeting from 7:00 to 9:00 in the Council Chambers at Town Hall and then adjourned to the Sprenkel Room for a regular business meeting.
Meeting called to order: 9:00 PM
Commissioners in Attendance: Andy Paterna, George Caye, Rich Mabey, Jason Race, Al Larson, Rob O'Connor, Ray Favreau
Also in Attendance: Srinivasa Chalikonda, Venkat Gogu, Salim Bhora
Minutes of the April meeting were approved and seconded.
Public Input: Members of an area Cricket team asked the commission to consider putting a Cricket field in South Windsor. This would be in use from May until September for league and tournament play. A basic outline was given about field dimensions and needs (pitch area). The club may be willing to buy a portable pitch area to be removed at the end of the season.
Report of the Recreation Director:
Grand opening of the Boundless Playground is set June 30th, 2007 starting at 10:00 AM and continuing until 1:00PM. Maneeley's is donating food and drinks and there will be a magic show and musical entertainment.
VMP: Swim team has an all-time high of 121 swimmers. Private swim lessons are sold out.
4th R program: Registration started on June 1st. 65 kids enrolled to date.
Camp Discovery: 80% full. On-line registration is at 20%.
