Minutes of the Meeting
July 11, 2007

Meeting called to order: 7:40 PM

Also in Attendance:  Srinivasa Chalikonda, Venkata Bandaru, Salim Bhura, Krisna Veluru, Ginnie Hole, Jeremy Roscoe, Roy Norman

Minutes of the June meeting were approved and seconded.

Public Input:  Area Cricket team asked the commission to consider putting a Cricket field in South Windsor.  They had a listing of 19 club members and a petition of 34 people to support a field in town.  Ray is going to look into possibly using the field area adjacent to Orchard Hill School for a couple of weekend tournaments this summer.  The Parks Dept. needs to look into moving the soccer goals in the field.

Ginnie Hole spoke to the PARC starting a bike/walking path committee in South Windsor to try and connect all the parks in town with bike paths.  She would also like to connect with other towns.  She would like a committee for help in getting bike paths to connect our town parks.  A motion was made and seconded to from a subcommittee of no more than eight people with the following people included; George Caye, Rob O'Connor, Andrea Momnie and, Ginnie Hole.  PARC voted and unanimously passed the forming of this committee.  The committee will begin meetings in September.

An indoor batting cage was brought to the attention of PARC.  Craig Zimmerman would like a single indoor cage built behind the community center by an existing outdoor batting cage.  PARC considers this to be too small of a facility to support and would only be used by a small group.  They have suggested to Ray Favreau to talk with Craig and the owners of Nomads to possibly build there or more indoor cages that can be rented out for use by organized baseball teams.

Rich Mabey would like the town to look into building to small practice fields next to the lighted football/lacrosse field when the Steap Grant is used too built new fields for Rye Street Park.  Ray will need to discuss this with the Lacrosse members for approval

Due to the pending court date with Lawrence Road Park this PARC has decided to get preliminary costs for fencing for a Dog Park at Nevers Park.  We will need to get some dimensions for the fencing.  Ray Favreau will contact Chief Tyler to attend the September PARC meeting to discuss having the Dog group help with the costs of other needs for the park.  The Dog Park is in  the 07-08 PARC  master plan.
