To the Constable of the Town of Saugus
Greetings:
In the name of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts you are hereby required to notify and warn the inhabitants of the Town of Saugus, qualified to vote in Town affairs for the Special Town Meeting at the Saugus Town Hall located at 298 Central Street on March 28, 2011 at 7:30 PM to hear and act on the following articles: viz;
Article 1. To hear and act on reports of Committees.
Article 2. To see if the Town will vote to authorize the Board of Selectmen to petition the Legislature to enact legislation to authorize the Town of Saugus to hold a special election, prior to June 30, 2011, for the purpose of requesting voter approval of a one year real estate tax assessment to pay snow and ice removal costs incurred during FY2011. Such assessment would be apportioned according to current classifications, assessments and tax rates. If approved by majority vote, the total assessment shall not exceed the total cost of FY 2011 snow and ice removal costs in the Town of Saugus as certified by the Saugus Town Accountant prior to said election.
Provided, that the Legislature may reasonably vary the form and substance of the requested legislation within the scope of the general public objectives of this petition.
