Meeting Minutes
Tuesday, January 15, 2008

In Attendance: Deb Amaral, Peter Baglioni, Zac Broughton, Chrisanthe Theodorakakis, Ryan Heath, Deb Kneeland, James Lister, Jay Silva, Tom Watkins
Introduction
New members Crisanthe Theodorakakis and Deb Kneeland were introduced to the group. Meeting minutes from the group’s December meeting were reviewed and approved.
Youth Week
Peter Baglioni received permission from Police Chief Robert St. Pierre to conduct a tour of the Police Station as part of Youth Week. Lunch will be provided. Peter said that it will be easier to hold the event on a weekday as opposed to a weekend day.
Deb will provide Jason with days and times for the 3 on 3 Basketball Ball. Deb said it would be nice to have the Mayor present and to maybe blow the whistle to start the event/championship game. The word about the 3 on 3 tournaments could be spread at the 3 on 3 tournaments the Boys and Girls Club is hosting in March.
Deb will talk to Jennifer Bell of Main Streets about their participation in Youth Week. Deb said the YMCA can also host a “dive-in” movie event.
Jason reported that he reached out to Kate Fox of Destination Salem who said that some attractions will be open to offering discounted rates or free admission. Jay and Kate will work to reach out to some of the City attractions for dates, times and discounts.
James offered to lead the Sundae on Sunday event. He said the Plummer Home can host the event.
The Boys & Girls Club can host board game tournaments Tuesday - Friday.
Ryan Heath will continue looking into a Battle of the Bands event and will report back to Tom with any thing he finds.
Jay and Tom will explore a trip to the Roller Palace.
Deb Kneeland said she will be willing to coordinate an event with A3D. Deb also has an intern who can put together a flyer for Youth Week.
The group will focus at their next meeting to set the times and dates for each event of Youth Week. A listing of event times will need to be produced shortly in order to publicize and market Youth Week.
Youth Events Calendar
Deb reported that she is still in the process of working on written guidelines for the use of the Youth Events Calendar.
Other Business
Deb Kneeland reported to the group that there may be funding available to the Youth Commission through the MAP North Shore regional Task Force. She will explore this more and let the group know.
