Minutes of the August 15, 2013 Meeting
Present: Mayor Driscoll, William P. Goreham, Raymond Vaillancourt
Thaddeus Buczko and Sumner Jones
Mayor Driscoll called the meeting to order at 5:30 P.M. in the Mayor’s Office, City Hall.
The scholarship awards were awarded to 26 Salem students and totaled $4,030.00 from the Low, Bean and Angelico Funds.
The Salem Council on Aging submitted three requests for medication reimbursements costs totaling $261.79. Kim Driscoll made a motion to approve the request from the Endicott Fund. The motion was seconded by Sumner Jones and voted unanimously.
Raymond Vaillancourt made a motion to approve the minutes of July 11, 2013 meeting. The motion was seconded by Thaddeus Buczko and voted unanimously.
Large Grant proposals for FY2014 were reviewed and discussed in detail.
Raymond Vaillancourt made a motion to approve the Large Grants for FY2014
as listed below. The motion was seconded by William P. Goreham and voted unanimously.
The Board approved the following amounts:
North Shore Community Action Program $40,000
Catholic Charities $20,000
The Salvation Army $ 7,000
St. Vincent de Paul Society $ 2,000
Life Bridge $ 2,500
Boys & Girls Club of Salem $ 8,000
Salem YMCA $10,000
Salem Cyber Space $ 3,000
Children’s Friend Society $10,000
Salem Pantry $ 4,000
Josephs Storehouse $ 5,000
Salem Philharmonics $ 5,500
Willows Concerts $ 1,800
Salem State University $ 2,500
Women’s Friend Society $ 4,500
Brookhouse Home for Women $ 5,000
Plumber Home for Boys $10,000
Salem Theatre $ 3,000
There being no further business the meeting was adjourned at 6:15 P.M.
