DRAFT MINUTES
Minutes of the May 14, 2011 Meeting

Present:  Mayor Driscoll, Robert Lutts, Raymond Vaillancourt, Thaddeus Buczko and William P. Goreham

The meeting was called to order by Mayor Driscoll at 5:30 P.M.

The Salem Council on Aging submitted a request to help residents with medication expense.  After review, Raymond Vaillancourt made a motion to pay $145.12 from the Endicott Fund for the expenses.  The motion was seconded by Robert Lutts and voted unanimously.

The Salem High School Guidance Department will be requesting funding for scholarships from the Andrews, Beston/Postles/McDonough, Kiwanis and
Roland Pinault Class of 1941 this month.  The members of the Roland Pinault Class of 1941 requested their scholarships be increased to $2,000 each for a senior boy and girl.  The detailed information will be listed in the June minutes.

The Read Picnic and Science Exhibit will be held on Saturday, June 25, 2011 at the Salem Willows, rain or shine.  Hours will be 10:00 A.M. to 3:00 P.M.  Tickets for students in grades K-5 will be distributed Friday, June 24, 2011.

Letters have been sent out to participants in the Large Grant funding.  They will have an opportunity to present their requests at our June 9, 2011 meeting or July 14, 2011 meeting.

Raymond Vaillancourt made a motion to approve the minutes of the April 14, 2011 meeting.  The motion was seconded by William P. Goreham and voted unanimously.
The approved minutes will be sent for posting.

Mary Lou Tuttle attended the meeting representing the Horace Mann School for their Destination Imagination class.  The class has an opportunity to compete for the finals in Knoxville, TN.  The class is in need of funding for transportation expenses.  Thaddeus Buczko made a motion to approve $1,000.00 from the Discretionary Fund for their trip.  The motion was seconded by William P. Goreham and voted unanimously.  

Robert Lutts will review the budget for Fiscal Year 2012 for Large Grants and other expenditures.

There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 6:25 P.M.
