Minutes of the July 10, 2008 Meeting

Present:  Mayor Driscoll, Robert Lutts, Raymond Vaillancourt
              and Thaddeus Buczko

The meeting began with a continuation of Large Grant Proposals from the following agencies:  Salem YMCA, Salem Philharmonics, North Shore Community Action Program, Salem Cyber Space Program, Children’s Friend and Family Society, Salvation Army, Bertram House, and Women’s Friend Society.  After reviewing all the proposals and the funds available for Fiscal Year 2009, Thaddeus Buczko made a motion to approve the proposals as listed for FY09, $133,300.   The motion was seconded by Raymond Vaillancourt and voted unanimously.

Robert Lutts made a motion to approve the minutes of the June 12, 2008 meeting.  The motion was seconded by Thaddeus Buczko and voted unanimously.

The Salem Council on Aging submitted a request for medication reimbursement for $417.46.  Robert Lutts made a motion to approve payment from the Endicott Fund.  The motion was seconded by Thaddeus Buczko and voted unanimously.

A statement was received from Deschamps Printing for the Read Picnic tickets and flyers $449.00.  Robert Lutts made a motion to approve payment from the Picnic Funds.  The motion was seconded by Raymond Vaillancourt and voted unanimously.

Food and ride tickets were received fro the Read Picnic.  Robert Lutts made a motion to pay for them out of the Picnic Funds, $2,134.50.  The motion was seconded by Raymond Vaillancourt and voted unanimously.

The Department of Open Space requested $27,300 to complete the storage facility that will encompass the greenhouse at Greenlawn Cemetery from the Meldon Fund.
Robert Lutts made a motion to approve this funding from the Meldon Fund.  The motion was seconded by Raymond Vaillancourt and voted unanimously.

The Board invited Mary Lou Tuttle to our meeting.  She had just retired from the Board after 24 years of service.  For 22 years she served as Treasurer for the Board.
Mayor Driscoll  presented her with a City Seal, and an appreciation gift for all her years of dedicated service on the Board.  

There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 7:30 PM.
