General business
  • May 21 Living Green Fair with Salem Chamber of Commerce
  • There was a discussion as to who was available to assist with tabling, set up, and breakdown of the fair, with Jenna Ide, Nick Lewis and John Hayes available for afternoon and Jeff Brandt unsure of availability. ~Adam Segal was unavailable. ~John Hayes also agreed to assist with both setup on Friday and take down on Sat afternoon. ~
  • A review of materials from previous tabling provided by Paul Marquis was conducted, along with a discussion regarding what materials we felt should be produced. ~Cindy Keegan suggested that we provide some highlights regarding the Winter Island Wind Feasibility Study, some of the photo simulations, and seek community feedback. ~Jenna Ide suggested including a sheet for persons to ask questions that we could develop into a FAQ regarding wind. ~We discussed and approved having a map that we could add the location of residents home and their support (yes-green, no-red, yellow-maybe) as a visual representation of community support for the project. We also decided to include info regarding the home weatherization project, and the Green Business Challenge.
  • A brief discussion regarding the Winter Island wind feasibility study and methods for reviewing and combining comments from the RETF ended with a recommendation from John Hayes to hold a special meeting prior to our regularly scheduled June meeting to review comments and get them back to Meridian for finalization to CEC.
  • Bill Tobin from the public introduced himself and provided a quick overview of his proposed re-use plan for the Salem Harbor power plant site- including 2 barges containing 100MW each combined heat/power/cooling natural gas generators, mixed use buildings with renewable energy in the form of solar on the top of every building, and desire to bring port activities back, including the possibility of large cruise ships direct to the deep water port portion of the site.
