City Staff: Paul Marquis (Salem Energy Manager & RETF/ City Liaison)

There were not sufficient members present to form a quorum.
Administrative
  • Meeting called to order at 6:50 PM
  • Approval of March 2011 meeting minutes not undertaken due to lack of sufficient number of members
General business
  • Presentation by Emergent Energy Group on “Consensus-Driven Development”
  • Jesse Gosset and Jayson Uppal, principals with Emergent Energy Group, delivered a presentation on their methodology for developing stakeholder consensus on large scale public renewable energy projects, such as the proposed wind turbine at Winter Island. They also briefly discussed the terms under which they could be engaged by the City of Salem to assist in the development of the Winter Island project. The session was followed by a brief Q & A with Task Force members.
  • May 21 Living Green Fair with Salem Chamber of Commerce
  • There was a brief discussion of ideas for attracting interest in the Fair. In keeping with the unofficial gardening and sustainable food theme of the Fair (w/ the airing of the movie “Truck Farm”, the concurrent plant sale, and the seed exchange), it was suggested by a member that the Task Force try to enlist a beekeeper to exhibit at the Fair. Adam Segal and Cindy Keegan each noted that they knew a beekeeper and offered to reach out to them. Cindy Keegan suggested trying to enlist the group Bikes Not Bombs to bring their pedal-powered smoothie maker to the Fair. Paul Marquis offered to follow up with them.
