Introduction
Meeting minutes were reviewed and approved for the January 17, 2008 meeting.

Living Green & Renewable Energy Fair
The Living Green & Renewable Energy Fair has been set for Saturday, June 14th from 10 am – 3 pm.  The event will be located in and around Old Town Hall.  There is also hope that a “green” film will be shown at CinemaSalem to start the day as well as a speaker series on the second floor of Old Town Hall.  Group member Jeff Barz-Snell offered to partake in the speaker series.

Tom will check into having a Big Belly and the City’s hybrid vehicle at the event.

The group reviewed the vendor list provided by Ben and Rinus from the Salem Chamber of Commerce.  They checked off the “must haves”.  Rinus would like to have the vendor list finalized within the next two weeks.  For food, the group would like to promote restaurants within walking distance of the event and to not have sausage carts, etc. located there.

John Hayes will put together a one page carbon footprint handout.

Cindy would like to sign people up for Green-Up.

Tom will work with the Mayor on a Proclamation and will proclaim June 14th “Clean Energy Day”.  Tom will also have the event put on the Mayor’s calendar.

Cindy will also check into having t-shirts made for the RETF members to wear at the event.

SESD/SODAR Unit
With the SODAR unit now operating at SESD, the group would like to know what the preliminary results have been.  Tom and Cindy will talk to Utama at UMASS about this.  They will set up a follow up conference call with Utama, Alan Taubert at SESD and Chris Clarke at MTC.  Tom and Cindy will also have a follow up meeting with Larry Chretain of MassEnergy, the Mayor and Rep. John Keenan.  They will need to begin discussing the possibility of siting the turbine at Winter Island Park should the data from the SESD site not be favorable for siting a turbine there.

Green Up
Cindy reported that sign ups for Green Up are still at only 20 and will need 130 more to qualify for a grant from MTC.  Katy Krottinger is working with the Chamber to get the word out to local businesses.  Jeff suggested creating a visible sticker/car magnet and hand it out to those who sign up for Green Up at the Renewables Fair in June.  The group will look into tapping into either Green Up or SAFE funds for this.  Adam will talk to Katy Keadings about designing the sticker.

Wind Ordinance
Cindy had forwarded the draft ordinance to Tom Michelman of Boreal Energy for his thoughts on the ordinance.

Other Business
Cindy would like to invite Paul L’Hereux of the Salem Public Schools to the groups next meeting for an update on the wind turbine at Carlton School, the solar array at the High School and the data for the EPA Community Energy Challenge.

Tom will search for previous ICLEI data.

Adam suggested a good poster/ad for the Big belly’s would be one that promotes Green Up.

Tom will talk to SATV to promote the Renewable Energy Fair and will John Giardi about the payback and savings from the LED program.

Earth Day at Salem State College is during April 14th – 18th.  Tom will check to see what the City of Salem is doing to promote this.
