City Updates:
Downtown Cleaning Contactor
Contractor work is underway by SJ Services. They are out four or five days a week throughout the downtown area. Their scope of work includes weekends, so they are not out every weekday.
Footprint Redevelopment
Footprint is moving forward with the demolition of the oil tanks and some other deconstruction work. Their opening date has now been pushed back a year to June 2017. One appeal is still pending with the EPA. However, this will not impact the City’s timetable for use of the wharf.

CPA Projects
The projects were approved by the City Council following the CPC’s recommendations. They are now available online at www.Salem.com.
Transfer Station
The plaintiff’s appeal to the SJC on the transfer station case was turned down by the court last week.
Canal Street Project
DOT will be holding a public hearing on the reconstruction of the Canal/Loring/Jefferson intersection in late July or early August. The meeting will be posted when there is a precise date.

MBTA Project
The MBTA garage is on track for a mid-October opening, though platform access should be available later this month. When the garage opens, the City intends to remove the parking at Leslie’s Retreat Park area and will begin charging for parking at the Universal Steel lot. The MBTA will be eliminating on street parking along Bridge Street west-bound.

Commonwealth Connect
The Commonwealth Connect service request application will launch in mid-July. Residents will be able to use it on any mobile device or the City’s website to report problems – i.e. potholes, street light outages, etc. The program will provide for data collection for performance management analysis and will feed into the City’s CitiStat initiative.

Next Meeting: Wednesday, September 10, 2014

Adjournment: 8:25 P.M.
