Updates on City projects/issues: Patricia Zaido invited members to come to the upcoming Salem Partnership meeting to hear a presentation by the Winter Island consultants.

Jason Silva gave updates on several projects and issues in Salem:
  • Road paving has started for the season. Parking lots will now be included in the paving plan.
  • Some infrastructure work has started on the Essex Pedestrian Mall. Sidewalk work will follow.
  • The new parking plan passed a first City Council vote and will be up for a second vote.
  • A traffic light was installed at Derby, Congress and Hawthorne streets. The timing of the light needs adjustment.
  • Now that the power plant has announced it will close, the City is working with the Power Plant Reuse Study Committee to find possible new uses for the site. The state has agreed to make up some of the site’s lost tax revenue.
  • Once again, money was included in the budget for the Common Fence.
  • Work on Furlong Park has been delayed.
  • Bike lanes were painted on City streets.

The meeting adjourned at 8:20 p.m.
