Lifebridge Neighborhood Advisory Committee
Minutes
March 27, 2012
6 p.m.
120 Washington Street, 3rd Floor Conference Room

Present: Meghann Ackerman, Mark Cote, Seth Doolin, John Femino, Dennis King, Joan Lovely (chair), Barbara Mann, Rob Phelan, Todd Siegel, Jason Silva, Mike Sosnowski, members of the public

Introductions: Everyone introduced themselves.

Lifebridge update: Mark Cote said the winter protocol ended April 15 and the shelter was back to 34 beds.

Six clients took an English class for credit at Salem State University.

Starting in April, clients will be issued Lifebridge IDs.

St Mary’s update: Joan Lovely shared what she knew about the sale of St. Mayr’s to the Gateways of Peace Church: The deed and mortgage have been recorded and all renovation work was done with permits.

Barbara Mann read a letter from Bob Femino about how the sale could have been handled differently and the neighborhood’s desire to keep the grotto.

Mark Cote explained that Lifebridge still owns the land the grotto is on, but it wants to use the area for a garden. He would like the statues moved out.

Mike Sosnowski and Todd Siegel brought up the possibility of having the DPW or City Engineer look at the statues to see what it would take to move them.

There was a heated exchange between members of the public, some board members and Lifebridge representatives. Joan Lovely reminded everyone that they needed to keep decorum during meetings.
