SPECIAL MEETING
OF THE CITY COUNCIL
A Special Meeting of the City Council was held in the Council Chamber on Monday, June 13, 2011 at 6:00 P.M. for the purpose of adoption of the 2011 Re-Precincting Plan for the City of Salem by adoption for second and final passage of the legal language as submitted by the Ad-Hoc Committee for Re-Precincting. Notice of this meeting was posted on June 9, 2011 at 5:30 P.M.
Absent was Councillor O’Keefe and Councillor Pelletier.
President Jerry L. Ryan presided.
#393A – SECOND PASSAGE ORDINANCE FOR RE-PRECINCTING
The matter of Second and Final passage to adopt a re-precincting plan under the provisions of Massachusetts General Laws Chapter 43, Sections 20 and 22 and sections 20 and 22 of the City of Salem Charter.
Councillor McCarthy moved for adoption for second and final passage. It was adopted by a roll call vote of 9 yeas, 0 nays, 2 absent.
Councillors Sosnowski, Sargent, Ronan, Prevey, Pinto, McCarthy, Lovely, Furey and Ryan were recorded as voting in the affirmative. Councillors O’Keefe and Pelletier were recorded as absent.
Councillor McCarthy moved for immediate reconsideration in the hopes it would not prevail. Reconsideration was denied.
Councillor McCarthy moved that the City Clerk forward this evening’s action to the Local Election Districts Review Commission for approval. It was so voted.
On the motion of Councillor McCarthy the meeting adjourned at 6:25 P.M.
