MINUTES MAY 6, 2004 EMERGENCY MEETING
        An Emergency Meeting of the City Council was held in the Council Chamber on Thursday, May 6, 2004 at 6:00 P.M. for the purpose of confirming a declaration of emergency, to appoint the Assistant City Clerk as the Acting City Clerk effective immediately to insure the health, safety and welfare of the citizens of Salem.  Notice of this meeting was posted on May 5, 2004 at 2:35 P.M.

Councillors Harvey and Veno were recorded as absent.

Council President Leonard F. O’Leary presided.


Councillor Lovely moved for suspension of the rules to bring the matter before them. It was so voted.

Councillor Lovely moved to confirm the declaration of emergency to insure the health, safety and welfare of the citizens of Salem was adopted by roll call vote of 9 yeas, 0 nays, 2 absent.  Councillors Bencal, Corchado, Furey, Lovely, O’Keefe, Pelletier, Sargent, Sosnowski and O’Leary were recorded as voting in the affirmative. Councillors Harvey and Veno were recorded as absent.

Councillor O’Keefe moved immediate reconsideration in the hopes it does not prevail. Reconsideration was denied.


#293 – APPT. OF ACTING CITY CLERK

Councillor O’Keefe introduced the following Order, which was adopted by roll call vote of 9 yeas, 0 nays, 2 absent. Councillors Bencal, Corchado, Furey, Lovely, O’Keefe, Pelletier, Sargent, Sosnowski and O’Leary were recorded as voting in the affirmative. Councillors Harvey and Veno were recorded as absent.

ORDERED: That the Assistant City Clerk, Cheryl LaPointe, be made Acting City Clerk effective immediately.

Councillor O’Keefe moved immediate reconsideration in the hopes it does not prevail. Reconsideration was denied.

On the motion of Councillor O’Keefe the meeting adjourned at 7:05 P.M.
