Minutes of Cemetery Commission on Tuesday, November 18, 2014 at 6:30pm, 120 Washington Street
Meeting began at 6:35pm and ended at 8:00pm
Members present: Joanne Mizioch, Ruth Kapnis, Anthony O’Donnell, Pat Donohue and Jackie Eng
Attendees: Ron Malionek, Supt. of Cemetery, Don Famico Animal Control Officer, Heather Famico Ward Councillor, Susan & Dave Green, Eleanor Meadowcroft, Kirky Delong, Dennis Alves, Jim Crowley, Beth Crowley, Nichols Kiffer, Erin Young
· Discussion of No Dogs Allowed in Broad St. Cemetery versus dogs being allowed on leash
· Summarization points: theoretically if dogs are allowed on leash it enables residents to monitor activities going on, pick up after other dogs and pick up trash.
· Don Famico talked about stepping up patrols utilizing Assistant Harbor Masters
· Others raised the point that the cemetery is a place of respect and shouldn’t be used as a dog park where dogs can urinate/defecate/run all over graves
· Voting on dog issue at January meeting
· Reviewed costs of record conversion hoping pricing will be affordable so that project can move forward
· Acknowledged Salem Five grant given to Greenlawn Cemetery for Chapel door repairs
· Highlighted FOG tour and Joanne Mizioch commended the event
