The minutes for the July 20, 2015 meeting were reviewed, an edit was required. Minutes
need to be sent with signature to the Town Clerk for their records. Cindy Trahan-Liptak
moved to accept the minutes with the correction, seconded by Jane Alinovi. All in
agreement.
The Children's Librarian's report was reviewed. Events for the month were very well
attended. The ice cream party which was sponsored by Mark and Linda Roberts of Still
Four Corners was a highlight. The Trustees appreciate the generosity of
the Roberts.
Ruth Rovezzi made a motion to approve the Children's Report, Chris
Waible seconded.
All in favor.
The Director's report was reviewed. The addition of e-books to our
catalog has increased
our inventory by 140,000 articles, which is a tremendous asset for our patrons. . E-books
are available for a 14 day loan. Chris Waible moved to accept the Directors report,
second by Shelley Mitchell. All in favor.
Jane Alinovi reported on her review of the policies of other libraries, in comparison with
those of our library. Trustees are asked to review our existing policies and have
comments for the September meeting. The priority policies for review are the Use of
Computers and the Meeting Room policies. Long Range Planning will be on for
discussion at the September meeting. Library Long-Range Planning should be part of the
larger conversation about the town's Long-Range Planning.
Kerry Remington updated the Trustees on security for the building. The key that had
been at Dispatch has been put in the Knox Box on the building where it
can easily be
accessed by Fire and Police. Kerry has asked the Chief of Police to have the doors
checked by the police officers on duty on days that the library is not open to the public to
ensure the building is secured (Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday). Ray Becker
from the Rutland Cable Advisory Committee has a key to the building as
agreed in the
August meeting.
The town is holding training on Open Meeting requirements. All Trustees are
encouraged to attend. Kerry will forward information as it is available.
A recent weather advisory for tornadoes has prompted the library to consider emergency
preparedness and our connection to essential services in town.
October is Friends of Library Month, an event is planned for October 24, 2015.
The meeting was adjourned at 8:35pm.
Respectfully submitted,
Ruth Rovezzi
Secretary
