Discussions
Environmental challenges and list of public shade trees – Stephanie was going to talk to Gary about them. Peter talked to Gary briefly and he said he isn’t sure how many, etc. Peter suggested an action plan and add as a goal to find out how many, etc. Joe suggested what the definition of a shade tree is should also be added. Karla said she can put together a list of tree types of shade trees. Eric said Gary Liimatainen was the tree warden at one point – Karla is going to try to speak with him.
Jake read the definition at mass.gov which states any trees on the public roadway and on town property.
There are 3 inactive capped landfills in the Town.
Point 8 – Dick said she has a new list for Dick to pick up for him at the Assessor’s office. Peter said he asked for a list as well and he has been waiting for over 2 weeks and will also be going up there to find out about the list status.
Point 9 is completed.
Karla wants to add to goal #3 “provide recreational facilities, etc.”
“3.4 maintain town owned recreational areas”
Jake thinks that the addition should be higher on the list, like 3.1. Everyone also agrees.
Peter is hoping to have the Action Plan done for the next meeting.
Eric contacted Will about the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) – there isn’t many town buildings or anything that is needed. The pool just received a crane to put people in and out of the water. Will did complete all required paperwork. Not much under the Rutland Recreation, Conservation Commission or Open Space. Eric is going to check the Community Center. Eric said the town does need an ADA Coordinator. There needs to be a person that falls under the ADA to look over the paperwork; Eric has people in mind to review the paperwork. Will is not interested in being the Coordinator, but Eric knows someone who may be interested. Joe believes that it falls under the building inspector but not sure if a “Coordinator” would fall under the Building Inspector. Eric is going to talk to Margaret about the ADA
Coordinator. Peter asked if the Coordinator needed to be certified – Eric will try to find that out. Karla said all the state is looking for is that the forms were used and completed and we just need to do that.
Point 10 is basically done; Peter is adding finishing touches.
Point 14 is also completed per Karla.
Peter is going to let us know if he needs help editing.
ADA, Environmental Challenges and Action Plan are all that is left to be done, and it needs to be done by November.
Respectfully Submitted,
Karen Wamback
